Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our semi-fixed Play Pods — from installation and safety to delivery and warranty.

About the Pods

What is an Aussie Play Pod?
An Aussie Play Pod is a modular outdoor play fort built for early learning and school settings. Each pod combines a rust-resistant aluminium frame with UV-stable HDPE panels, exterior-grade plywood and Merbau hardwood, and pods connect together to form larger play spaces.
What’s the difference between a Single, Double, Triple and Quad Pod?
It’s the number of connected pod modules, which determines capacity and footprint. A Single Pod suits a smaller space or budget, while the Quad Pod creates a larger multi-zone play structure for higher-traffic yards. Pricing scales accordingly, from around $14,000 for a Single up to around $43,000 for a Quad.
What are “Poddlers”?
Poddlers are the baby/infant version of the Play Pod, scaled and configured for the youngest age group in a nursery or babies’ room. They come in Single and Double configurations.
Is the footprint adaptable?
Yes — the footprint is adaptable and the height is adjustable to suit your existing space, and you can add interactive panels or moveable equipment to build obstacle courses.
Can the pods be customised?
Yes — please reach out to us and we would be happy to discuss customising a Pod to suit your needs.

Installation & the “Semi-Fixed” Question

Are the pods fixed or moveable?
They’re what we call semi-fixed – meaning once assembled, they’re not something you would move on a weekly or monthly basis like our other Moveable Play equipment. However, it means they can be relocated or reconfigured much more readily than a permanent build that cannot be moved or changed.
Do they need to be concreted in?
No. The Pods are designed to be assembled by a lay person, and installed on your existing surface. We have a proprietary levelling system that is very easy to adjust to surface irregularities.
Are they stable?
Absolutely. Our levelling system ensures the units are stable, and we engineer elements into the Pods to further stabilise them. Some customers choose to bolt the Pods down, however in almost all cases this is not necessary. If you want to bolt them down and are not sure how to do this, reach out to our team and we will discuss it with you.
Is installation included in the price?
No — however the Pods do not need to be installed per se. They just need to be assembled, and this can be done by anyone: teachers, a parent group, a handyman, or we can arrange this for you as well.
How long do they take to assemble?
Depending on the size of the configuration, 2 skilled people can assemble a Quad Pod in a single day. If you want to take your time and it’s not the sort of thing you normally do, allow 2 days for 2 people — perfect for a weekend! And remember, we are always only a phone call away to help if you need it.
What surfacing or soft-fall do I need underneath?
This item has a Free Height of Fall (FHoF) greater than 60cm — that means it does need an impact-attenuating surface. This could be rubber softfall, synthetic grass softfall, chipbark or a range of other surfaces. Contact us if you need some help with this.
How much space do I need?
Each configuration has its own footprint, plus a clear “fall zone” around the equipment. See the Documentation tab for our tech sheets, which show the various configurations and fall zones with dimensions. A key feature of the Pods is their flexibility in this regard — if the dimensions in our tech sheets don’t fit your space, contact us and we can reconfigure them to fit any area.

Safety, Compliance & Age Suitability

Do the Play Pods meet Australian playground standards?
Yes — all our Pods are designed, manufactured and certified in accordance with AS 4685. This standard sets out strict guidelines to ensure the safety of children when using playground equipment.
What age groups are they suitable for?
The standard pods are designed for early learning and kindergarten ages, with the Poddler range purpose-built for toddlers with a lower platform height of 30cm and reduced degree of difficulty. The pods are built to encourage age-appropriate “risky play” — challenge that’s developmentally beneficial while remaining safe.

Materials, Durability & Maintenance

Will they handle the Australian weather?
Yes — the design uses rust-proof aluminium framing, UV-stable HDPE panels, stainless steel fasteners, and exterior-grade plywood and Merbau hardwood specifically chosen for outdoor durability.
What maintenance is required?
Outdoor timber and play equipment benefit from periodic inspection and routine upkeep — checking fixings, cleaning panels and maintaining timber.
Are spare parts available?
We design and build these Pods to be durable, such that you shouldn’t need any spare parts. In the unlikely event you do, if we don’t have the part you need on the shelf, we can manufacture all parts required.
What warranty do they come with?
Our Pods are a premium product, and we understand they are a long-term investment for your playground. With that in mind we offer a 10-year structural warranty on the frames*. See our Warranty section for more information. (*Terms and conditions apply.)

Buying, Delivery & Lead Time

Are these made in Australia?
Yes, the Play Pods are Australian-made. When we say Australian made, we don’t take that lightly — we mean EVERYTHING. We cut, bend, weld, machine, fold, powder coat and drill: absolutely everything is made right here in Australia.
What’s the lead time?
This can vary depending on the size of your Pod and whether there are any customised features, but typically 6 weeks from time of order. Get in touch with our team and we’ll be able to confirm current lead times. If you have an urgent need, we will always try to accommodate your deadline.
Do you deliver Australia-wide?
Yes we do! We can even ship overseas.
Can I get a quote or see one in person?
We can provide an official quotation — just reach out to our team and we’ll be happy to help. We don’t currently have a showroom, as our manufacturing facility is so busy we use all of our space to manufacture your equipment!
